Enterprise
Application Integration (EAI) Software helps businesses to complete
transactions in minutes rather days or weeks by translating and
automating the flow of information between complex software programs
like those used for accounting, sales, automation, order entries
and inventory. EAI can be split into three separate types of integration
software; Enterprise Application, business-to-business
(B2B) and business-to-community software but it all links
a company's internal software, or middleware, to connect software
programs. In 1999 $650 million was spent on integration software.
According to IDC sales will grow at a rate of greater than 50%
annually reaching between $2.2 billion to $5.35 billion in sales
by 2003. The companies on this list are leaders in this rapidly
growing software
industry.
